Description:
Peleus and Thetis – Hand-Colored Print
Legend has it that the gods instructed Peleus to take the nereid Thetis for a wife. Chiron the centaur taught Peleus to hold fast to her while she transformed into all manners of frightful creatures. At last, Thetis was won over by his fearlessness and resolve. The gods celebrated their nuptials magnificently and later she bore him a son, Achilles. This original image is printed with ink on paper and then individually hand-colored by Leonard Porter. The overall size is 9 x 12 inches and the image measures 5.75 x 7.625 inches. Each print is signed by the artist and comes in a choice of two colors, Attic Red or Sepia.
